NHYBS Hunterdon Pride is a travel softball program designed to expand player’s skill levels and provide a more competitive environment beyond the Spring Recreation league.

Expectations for the yearly program may vary at each age level, but a general overview of the program includes:

  • To play in approximately 1-4 tournaments in the Fall (Sept. to early Nov.)
  • To play in a Fall League (When/if available, usually weekends Sept. to early Nov.)
  • To attend approximately 5-15 Fall practices (Dates to be determined by the Coaches)
  • To attend approximately 5-15 Winter practices (Jan. thru March, indoor locations TBD)
  • To attend approximately 5-15 Spring practices (April to May)
  • To play in the NHYBS Spring Recreation League (April to early June)
  • To play in a Summer League (Late June to the end of July)

To fully understand the commitment requirements at your daughter’s age level, each individual Coach’s expectation for participation will be reviewed either at the tryout or prior to accepting an offer for a spot on the Pride team.

What we expect of you:

  • To attend, be on time and be prepared for all games & practices
  • To bring a positive attitude to all games & practices and always give 100% of your effort
  • To be respectful of your coaches, teammates & parents always

General Costs:

Fees will vary by age division based on the level of participation/enrollment in the various seasonal travel leagues listed above and the number of tournaments that your Coach determines appropriate for their team’s skill level and team size.

*Fees include insurance, indoor and outdoor practices, helmets (new players only), bat bags (new players only), uniforms (new players only), as well as tournament fees, field rentals and umpire scheduling and costs.

A full commitment (Fall play, Winter training, Spring Rec, possible concurrent Spring play and Summer play) to cost between $600 and $1200 per player over the span of a year.  Historically 8U is on the lower end and 10U through 14U are on the higher end due to level of play. Specific prices for each level will be determined based on the amount of players chosen for the team and the breadth of the program the Coach sets for the year.

Additional Information:

The Manager and coaching staff picked by the Manager are under the general supervision of the NHYS Board of Directors.  However, designated Coaches will pick their own teams based on their existing knowledge of each player’s ability, as well as performance at tryouts.

Being chosen to play on a travel team does not guarantee play time in games or tournaments.  Every effort will be made to provide all the girls playing time appropriate to their ability and according to the needs of the team at each individual game and tournament, and is at the Coach’s discretion.

Please address any questions to and the appropriate Coach or Board Member will return your inquiry.

Please share this email with anyone who you think may be interested.

Understand in the current Covid environment we are doing all that we can to play as much softball as possible.  Plans can changed or be altered at the will of the local and state governments or at the discretion of the Board of Directors.
